Choosing the Right Agent

Your goal in your search for an agent is to find an agent who works as an effective partner. Tap the resources around you for referrals for an agent. Talk to neighbors, family, friends, and colleagues. Also, consider speaking with your lawyer or financial advisor. Besides getting personal referrals, obtain names off the For Sales signs in the area in which you wish to move. Use open houses as an opportunity to view as well as to pre-interview possible agents.

When you get closer to selecting an agent, narrow it down to about three possibilities and interview them to ensure you'll work well together. The agent you select should make you feel comfortable and confident. Avoid any agent that inspires you to feel anxious or pressured. Make sure the agent specializes in the area you're interested in.

A good agent should promptly return your phone calls and readily answer your questions. In addition, your agent should inform you of new listings. To help your agent to provide better service to you, you should make you desires, needs and priorities clear.
